Responding to COVID-19: Clinics Canceled

We take the health of our clients, volunteers, staff and our whole community very seriously. We are proud to be working with a partner in the Ford Fund who also takes their role in the community very seriously. As of this afternoon, the Ford Fund has decided to close its facilities where our Southwest and Eastside clinics are held each week.

Out of an abundance of caution and with the desire to protect the health of all involved we have decided to cancel all three of our walk-in legal clinics until bans on public gatherings are lifted.

We want to continue to make our help available to clients who need us but in a way that is safe for everyone. We are going to try meeting with clients over phone or video chat. Using services available on any smart-phone we will let clients sign up online for 30-minute consultations. These will operate as in our legal clinics, where all people and legal issues are welcome, we will do as much as we can, given the limitations of not meeting in person. We will endeavor to have translators available as well.

These sessions will initially be available, Tuesday – Thursday, noon – 5 pm. We will reassess after the first week. More information will be available Monday.

As of right now, courts still seem to be in session, though that might change. If you are already working with us on a case please reach out to us as necessary.
