Clinics Update – Open for Appointments

As summer turns into fall, kids “go back” to school, and the world tries to keep going amid a global pandemic, our work is more important than ever.

We feel good about being back in the clinics; the Pontiac, Southwest, and Eastside Legal Clinics are open and seeing clients by appointment. COVID-19 in our communities means that we can’t see as many people as we used to. We’re comfortable with the protections we have in place.

  • Everyone working, volunteering, or visiting the clinic needs to wear a mask at all times.
  • Hand sanitizer is always readily available, and we regularly sanitize surfaces.
  • Anyone experiencing symptoms of illness can meet with us online or reschedule when they have been symptom-free for two weeks.

These simple procedures have kept us safe and COVID-19 free! But if you are still not feeling comfortable coming out to the clinic, we are continuing to offer remote consultations on Friday and Mondays. Between the clinics and remote calls, we are available to help Monday – Friday!

If you need legal help, please make an appointment

We know that many of our clients are used to walking in and getting help; we will do our best to get you a same-day appointment. The best way to get help is to make an appointment ahead of time; if you have trouble with the form, please call 313-288-9904.

The Southwest Detroit Immigrant and Refugee Center provides free and low-cost legal services to those who need them most in the Detroit area, with a focus on recent immigrants and refugees.

We were founded in 2014 by Kevin Piecuch, our Executive Director and principal attorney, to help meet the great need for quality legal services in underserved communities. We believe that everyone deserves justice regardless of your country of origin, the color of your skin, or your ability to afford an attorney.
